November 14th 2009 - Having a restful day.

1 minute read time.

My mum and I are having a restful day today.  At the moment we're sitting watching extreme makeover.  Earlier we got the wig out and mum had a go at putting it on.  She's still not that keen.  We had some visitors and they had a try, including a 16 year old lad who actually looked really good.  We had a laugh and it kept things light.

I got a blue badge application form through the post which is a bit confusing.  I thought Christine, mums specialist nurse, said she would sort it and we'd have it within 2 weeks.  We really need it as mum gets really breathless as soon as she starts walking but reading the form it would appear she's not necessarily entitled to it and it could take some time to get it.  We need it now and it's so frustrating.  By the time she walks from the car to where we are going she's so out of breath and tired she just wants to go back home.  I had to answer questions about disability benefit etc. but at the moment we don't know what mum's entitled to.  Christine said she would sort all this out and I think she said someone would do all the paper work so I'm confused to receive this form.  I've rung and left a message for Christine so hopefully she'll pick that up on Monday morning and maybe I can see her when we're in for mums first chemo.  I hope so.  So yet another waiting game, wait, wait, wait......  It's all we seem to do but on a positive note mum is feeling ok when at rest and has slept better for the last two nights with the help of the liquid morphine she's been given.  She ays her hip feels better today so hopefully nothing related to her illness!
