February 18th - Good news!

1 minute read time.

We're just back from Dr Mehta, mums oncologist.  He is delighted with how mum is doing and is happy for her to have the 5th and 6th chemo sessions.  He says her xray looks great and has arranged for another ct scan when she has her final chemo so that he can decide on whether she should have RT.  Also to decide on whether it should be to head, chest or both.  Another boost for mum, she was delighted although the downside is she says she is doing well even though she's smoking.

I've tried to convince her that she might do even better if he stopped but after 56 years of smoking I think it might be a step too far for her to stop.  And ofcourse I am still smoking so can't say a lot!  I'm reading Allen Carrs book easyway to stop smoking and may even invest in going to one of his clinics.  If it works the £175 will be well worth it.  Don't know that it would work for mum as she already has cancer and it seems to focus on stopping before you get cancer as the next cig could be the one that does it.  We'll see.

    Hi Caroline,

Great news about your Mum - just love her sense of humour. I was actually waiting for you to say that she flew through the air with the mattress, as I did once.

Cigarettes - Ooh, is there ever a 'right time'? Each time I've said to myself, it's now, something goes wrong and my good intentions go out the window. And now, well really not a good time as the crutch is most definitely needed,  but one day I WILL!

    Love, Tricia. X

Good news about ur mums chemo, they seem to have the right combination of chemicals for sclc. Hope you are getting motivated by the  book. I think it all boils down to a physical addiction to nicotine and you have to just beat it :)

Well done to your Mum - chemo could soon be over. I am still sneaking into the bathroom for a quick ciggie, even though I know it is stupid! Hoping it will sort itself out later! I have managed to give up alcohol - for the moment anyway!!
