talking about funerals

Less than one minute read time.

just sat on the sofa today having a coffee and chat to mum and she starts telling me what songs she want at her funeral nearly choked on my coffee i know she like's to be organized but this..... think maybe she's jumping the gun as yet we don't know the all the results .i know me and my dad used to talk about what he wanted when he past but he knew it would happen soon and didn't want to upset my mum and because we were so close it was just easier to tell me .but when it came too it my brothers and sister took over not even knowing what he wanted just didn't want to listern to me .so maybe she's telling me now so she get's what she wants how ever many years it maybe .i told her to write it all down and i'll make it happen no matter what anyone else has to say about it .apart from that we had a good day went to work together in the morning then she when it to town to meet her friends coffee and cake then her nails done .

im going to be buried at sea.....then my x wifes can all come and dance on my grave as much as they want

    :-)

but seriously...my dad planned his funeral every other day for 30 odd years....though in the end when he did die he also had everything wrote down which saved my mum hours of worry no doubt....and skipper who was on here also had his funeral planned for some years...songs, bible passages, prayers...everything and again that saved his brother from not knowing what skipper wanted..

    me ?

iv wrote down and told those who need to know..

three little birds by bob marley....my way by johnny rotten.....no religious stuff and nooo wearing black...

lots of happy faces and anyone who gets sad il haunt them...

    iv also wrote down....

if you cry....i will be crying....

if your sad.....i will be sad

if your unhappy....i would be unhappy..

everytime you laugh...i would be laughing

everytime your happy...i would be happy...

everytime you smile....i will be smiling....

i know its not easy but i allways say if a loved one dies they so need those who are left behind to be ok...

hey sarsfield, your going nowhere my friend....unless you fancy a few days in scarborough sometime....

    :-)

    Dear Muffitt

Having just had to help organise a funeral, with no idea about what hymns to choose, etc, I'm all for planning (in fact, I'm thinking seriously about planning my own). If it's what your Mum wants to do and it makes her happy ... although on second thoughts I prefer the sound of the coffee, cake and manicure ;-)  !

Graeme - love the sentiments, you're a great guy.  XX

    Hi Muffit,

When my husband died unexpectedly last year we had no idea what he wanted but fortunatedly my children and I all agreed though we did have to put our feet down when my son started to prepare a Fleetwood Mac megamix!! However, it is a good idea to get your Mum to write her wishes down and then forget about it until it is needed in the very distant future.

    Love and hugs

I can see where your mum is coming from. My plans are in the making and being written down. More than anything because I don't want there to be arguments after I'm gone about what I would have wanted. I don't want my husband being "blamed" for choices thought inappropriate by parents (not that he would but you never know). He will have enough to do looking after our children without any added aggrevation and I want to do all I can to help make the process go smoothly.

Planning doesn't mean I intent popping off just yet, but none of us know when our time will be so it can't hurt to have some ideas in place.

    Love

    Bad Fairy x
