hey guys and gals

1 minute read time.

well its thursday evening eight days before christmas hits us with a bang!  Well on monday I had my second cycle of chemo and was equally as nervous if not more so than the first cycle , myself and my son took enough food to feed three wards and enough to keep us occupied for two weeks in spain ( oh for the day i can get on a plane ) well good news began after our breif chat with some of the other folk in the waiting room ( especially two women whom we met on the first time ).We were called forward to commence treatment that was half an hour to twenty minutes into the whole start and a half hour later began the whole drip and then just five and half hours later we were out of there . what more can i say the week has flown and my energy levels are maintaining well for the time being and going out everyday whilst i can , ginger ale is my new aid staving off the nausea , but to a serious not for now for anyone reading this all of you each and everyone of you please have a wonderful christmas and enjoy yourselfs

Hiya Wendy, congrats on getting through your 2nd chemo.

Just wondered, what is stopping you from getting on a plane?  I travelled to Spain, France, Belgium and Italy throughout my 8 months of (pretty heavy duty) chemo and it did me the world of good.  Like you, I started in winter and the dark months need a bit of alleviation...

It was slightly more of a palaver than normal (I always travel with a letter from my gp; some clexane as I'm terrified of thrombosis and an apothecary of every pill the docs can think of in case of infections, although happily none materialised).  But I was actually encouraged by  the medics to take breaks; they think it's a good thing as it gives you short term plans to dissipate the boredom.  And they were quite happy to amend my schedules if necessary - a week or so each side didn't cause any problems.  PLUS if you have your wits about you you can get a seat to yourself on the plane by pleading neutropenia...

Anyway, hope you have a fab festive season and things continue to go well for you

    Catriona x
