Losing my hair!

Less than one minute read time.

Well day 14 after chemo and altho the sickness and feeling horrible seem to be wearing off I got a shock to day even tho I knew it was gonna happen.  My hair started to fall out and I just feel totally useless and silly.  It was only haor right..  I feel silly for letting it get to me.

Hi, It is a shock isn't it.  I was told my hair would fall out 2 weeks after chemo and it started to come out in handfuls on day 14!  I had agreed to a wig and amazingly it arrived the day after we gave up and cut my hair off.  I hadn't liked the idea of a wig but it has been brilliant.  You can see it in my profile pic, lots of people who knew me well didn't realize, and just thought I had highlights and a new style, actually the wig had much more height than my normal hair which is very fine and can look a bit flat.  You will get used to it whatever you chose, wig, scarf or hat.  Don't feel guilty at being upset though, we have lots to cope with and different things affect us. lots of love Sue

Hair loss to a woman can be a very traumatic experience. You will have to go out and spend some money on Scarfs,Hats, and Wigs. but you will be fine once you get used to it. Im a man yes a man

and I shave my head every week. Anything to save money on hair cuts and shampoo. All the best.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xx

This is my 2nd lot of chemo so I knew what to expect, but still it's not pleasant to put it mildly!  I bought scarves and had a demo of how to tie them in different ways, but I go bald in the house (unless visitors come) and wear the wig when I go out.  I am getting used to being bald and enjoy the feeling of fresh air (not the rain though, that's a horrible feeling).  Mine is just starting to grow back again now and my son says I look like a fuzzy peach!  I am having a break from chemo and I know that when I go back on it, I will lose it again. But I know that it's not the end of the world.  Good luck!
