My Dad was diagnosed at the age of 63 with primary liver cancer about a year ago, after initially being told it was pancreatic cancer, he was offered chemo embolisation which he accepted but unfortunately this had no effect, he was then offered a chance of being on the BRISK trial which meant weekly blood tests and 3 weekly scans, they were happy with his condition as the tumours seemed to stabilise but then around Christmas he started experiencing pain in his shoulder, after being given pain killers and anti inflammatories Mum eventually insisted on an x-ray about 6 weeks ago that showed tumours in his spine, he was given one dose of radiotherapy 3 weeks ago and ever since then he has massively deteriorated.
He became very confused, couldn't move very well and has muscle weakness and stopped eating and seemed to sleep for 24 hours a day.
He has been in hospital (on a "normal" ward) for the past 5 days being treated for hypercalcemia, they said he needed fluids as he was dehydrated and it would help flush the calcium out of his system.
There has been no improvement and he seems to be getting worse, what can I do as all the staff keep saying is It's a bank holiday you have to wait until Tuesday!
