    I'm having one of those days today when life just doesn't seem fair.  Husband went back to work today after the Christmas break.  He's been looking forward to it.  He cut his hours down last year to look after me and today was supposed to be a new start for him.  So what happens?  He finds out he's losing his job in April, him and all his colleagues.

    It's been a busy few days.  First there was New Years Eve.  I wasn't too sure how it was going to feel this year as it used to be an energetic night in my life.  Lots of happy memories of evenings spent in a variety of places.  London, Edinburgh or Los Angeles were always extra special.  This year it was just me and my husband at home in our pyjamas.  We did manage to polish off a very nice bottle of vintage champagne…

  • 5 months after treatment finished.

    It’s now 5 months since my treatment finished so time for another update. 

    Christmas went OK.  Santa bought a copy of “The Cancer Survivors Companion” which I’m finding a very helpful book.  I was a bit sore and stiff from having the feeding tube removed so I had to have a lot of help cooking Christmas dinner.  Mine was boil in the bag cod in butter sauce with mashed potato and carrots, followed by…

  • Trying very hard not to laugh

    When the arrangements were made for me to have my feeding tube removed at home one of the stipulations was that I had to have a responsible adult with me at all times for 48 hours.  I thought this was just a precaution in case I felt unwell.  I now realise that it is an essential requirement because I am completely helpless while I recover.
