I’ve been having a good time lately. Season 1 of LA Law has been watched and it was wonderful. I then took a break from that to enjoy watching the US Open tennis. The sun has been shining and I have been feeling much more like my old self again. Until I woke up with raging toothache.
I left it for a few days in the hope that it would get better, but the pain just got worse until I couldn’t concentrate on anything. So an emergency appointment was booked. X Rays were taken and I was alarmed to be told that my jawbone is eroding and this has caused a bacterial gum infection. 3 of my teeth are loose and could end up having to be removed. This appears to be the side effect which was vaguely termed “dental problems” on my radiotherapy consent form.
I was late home from work earlier this week and on the way I walked along with a lady who I used to regularly bump into. She asked me where I’d been and I explained that I’d changed my work hours. She said she’d missed me and she’d wondered if I’d been abducted by aliens. (I should explain that this happens to her on a regular basis). I told her about the cancer and asked her about her latest abduction. She said that it’s good to be back but nothing feels quite the same as it was before, and she has noticed people treat her differently.
The more she talked about her experience the more things struck a chord with me until I began to wonder if I have ever been abducted by aliens. As we parted I was given a hug and told to go home and cover my windows with Bacofoil. I’m still not quite sure exactly why I need to do this but apparently it really helps.
