Well here I am on the first week of my HOPE course. It is a 6 week online course. I must admit that I felt a bit overwhelmed when I first logged on and saw all the course material. But after my initial panic I have begun settling in. I’m not great with technology but I seem to be finding my way round OK now. There is more reading than I expected and some of it is quite heavy going for me. Fortunately there is no tennis to distract me at the moment so I should be able to find the time needed. The course members and coaches are all very supportive and I look forward to making some new friends.
I am starting to feel better in myself already. It feels to me as if I have now started a new chapter in my recovery and I am optimistic that this course is going to be the final stage in my recovery process. I would recommend the HOPE course to anyone like me who struggles sometimes with the emotional side of their recovery. A lot of NHS resources go into our treatments and physical recoveries, but it’s a shame more help isn’t generally available to help our minds recover.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
