Day 2- 14th June 2013 - RT 2/35

1 minute read time.

Well what can I say, a perfect day!!  I am still shocked, can't believe it happened.  Went to bed last night a nervous wreck, expecting a midnight dash to A&E and not being well enough to manage the trip to hospital for Radiotherapy today.  But I slept soundly for 8 hours and woke up feeling great!  Had breakfast in bed and a lie in.  Nice relaxing shower, and then off to wait on the couch with the laptop for my hospital transport.  Was warned to be ready for a minibus at 11am but now it's a car at 12.45am.  So more time to catch up on emails, do a bit of internet shopping and banking.

Get into the car, only two other passengers who both live locally.  We have a range of appointments between 2pm and 3pm but nobody expects to be more than 15mins.  And anyone who uses hospital transport will know that this is the best bit, the driver is going to wait!  Driver has a fast car and there is light traffic.  We get there at 1.40pm.  The receptionist sees us walk in, we get the next 3 appointments, and we're all done by 2.30pm.  Decide to ignore procedure and scamper out to the car park to find our driver.  He's delighted to see us done so early, he's a tennis fan like me and he wants to see the end of the Murray match.  I tell him the match before has gone to 3 sets and if he puts his foot down we'll all get home in time to see Murray walk out on court.  And so we're off speeding through the countryside, the sun is shining, the windows are open, there is quite a Friday feeling in the car.  Not only am I home in time to see the Murray match, I catch the end of the one before.  Well done Lleyton Hewitt, nobody said you had a chance!

My husband and I spend a lovely evening watching TV and listening to the radio.  Make the most of it I tell him, there is not ever going to be a day like this again as the treatment progresses.

Today's Postive Thought - There is nothing like that Friday feeling!
