Just back from the hospital for my check up. Saw my Consultant and my Oncologist. They both seemed pretty pleased with me. There is still swelling in my neck and throat and round the base of the tongue, but it is down enough that I am now ready to be scanned. I will be having a PET Scan as they say this will show things up best. Unfortunately they don't have a PET Scanner there, the nearest one is 80 miles away.
I now have to wait for an appointment for the scan, hopefully it will be in about 3 weeks time. I'll have my next clinic appointment in 6 weeks and the results should be available then.
It all feels a bit scary now. I knew I'd be getting this scan eventually but it's sooner than they originally estimated. I've been managing to leave the thought at the back of my mind, but now I can't help wondering if the cancer has gone or not. I'm not looking forward to the wait until I find out.
