Yesterday I had an appointment with my Rheumatology nurse. I was hoping she would be able to give me information about my new treatment plan. We discussed reducing my Prednisolone dose and possibly starting on Sulfasalazine tablets alongside the Leflunomide. She even wrote a prescription out, saying get the tablets ready but don't start taking them until she had talked to my consultant. I went home hopeful and waited for her to give me a ring that afternoon.
The phone call came: not what I was hoping though. My consultant declared that I have Vasculitis which is causing the Nodular Prurigo etc., and could also cause problems with my kidneys and other organs. She insisted I needed to go into the day care unit on 3 days for Methylprednisolone infusions. So that was set up. Monday 29th, Tuesday 30th September, and Thursday 2nd October. She is also organising for me to have 20ml Methotrexate injections again, along with folic acid. Devastated!! This means I've had to cancel my Oncologist appointment (due on 30th) and make a new one for October 28th.
This has sent my emotions and positive attitude into a nosedive!!
