We finally got to the Trowell Garden Centre in Nottinghamshire. Unusually for a Bank Holiday the weather was glorious. I still felt good and managed to walk around the huge centre (with the aid of a walking stick). Our son and daughter in law had given us some garden centre vouchers some time ago, so we were glad to be able to spend them. We bought masses of plants, manure, wood bark chippings, garden ornaments and wild bird food. I even got a new handbag and a pair of Hotter shoes (they sell all sorts of stuff). There's a lovely cafe there and we had a meal and a drink. the cafe even had paintings and photos for sale. We had a great time.
The afternoon was spent in our garden, my husband doing all the work while I sometimes helped a little when possible. It was so hot, I took my hat off and went bare headed. It was the first time most of my neighbours had seen me without hair and I got a few strange looks from passers by who didn't know I had cancer. THEY DO NOW!!! We were both exhausted by 9pm and went to bed feeling quite proud of ourselves. I was so glad that my side effects seem quite minimal, except the relentless back pain for which I'm taking Ibuprofen and after checking my temperature, Paracetamol.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
