Was just wondering what was the best peice of advise you were given when faced with a diagnosis. I always read the advise Sarsfield posts and try to follow it.....especially the advise of not jumping to conclusions until all the results are back...(the one i find hardest)
What i really wanted to do was to share a wonderful piece of advise i was prividged to be given by Jacobs Cracker. I explained to her that I have been unable to control my emotions since my mum was diagnosed as terminal and she said....put your own feelings to the side for now...the time for your feelings will come but it is not now.
This has really struck a cord with me and since then the feeling that everything is out of my control has abated....i can 'shelve' my feelings for now and I feel that I can move forward and support mum, knowing that I can deal with my emotions later.
Anyway...just wanted to thank Jacobs and share her advice. It may not be the advice that will work for everyone but it is working for me.
On that note, we have all been the recipents of advice...good and bad and perhaps we could share the good in the hope it will touch someone else in a positive way.
