Second hospital stay

1 minute read time.

About a week before Christmas I ended up in hospital again. I was feeling breathless and rang the oncology day ward about it.  They suggested that I ring my GP and get them to send me out to the ED.  After talking to them I rang my GP straight away and asked for my GP to get back to me as soon as possible. He got back to me after about half an hour and said that he would write a letter to the ED and that I could collect it on the way out to the hospital. When I arrived out to the hospital I had a bit of a wait before I saw someone and they brought me into a cubicle.  After a long wait they sent me for a chest x-ray.  I also had a bloods taken and a covid test.  After some time a doctor came back to me and said that my chest x-ray was clear but my blood platelets were low so they were going to admit me. I finally got a bed at 4 o'clock in the morning on the Covid ward.

The following day after my covid test came back negative I was transferred to a 6 bed ward which I got very upset about.  Once I got over the upset I decided to make the best of it and try not to worry too much about the possibility of getting Covid because I was on a ward instead of having room on the oncology ward.

I was two days in hospital when I got a visit from two members of the oncology team so said they were going to send me for a CT Scan to make sure that the suspected clot hadn't gone into my lungs. They hoped that I'd be able to have my scan that day but couldn't guarantee it.  In the end I didn't have my scan that day.  I eventually had the scan the following evening. They made sure that I got the results shortly after I had the scan so that I could go home that evening and have my treatment to following day.  The scan was clear which I was delighted about.

When I got home I had a cup of tea and then went to bed.
