Hospital stay

1 minute read time.

I was admitted to hospital on Wednesday 25th November due to a suspected blood clot.  I was in hospital for about 9 days and while in hospital I had a number of visits from oncologist and members of her team. On one of her visits she examined my left breast and found that my tumour had reduced after only two treatments which needless to say I was delighted about.

I had two covid tests whilst in hospital because I was having a scope to check the size of the suspected blood clot. The first appointment I had for the scope was cancelled as there was an emergency and they couldn't fit me in so they rearranged it for three days later which I had to have a second covid test for. I finally had my scope on Friday 4th December.  My oncologist came to see me  as I was being brought down to the scope room which was in cardiology. Once I had the scope I was brought back to my room and shortly afterwards one of my oncology team came to tell me that they didn't find anything, so either there wasn't a clot or the blood thinning injections I was given during my hospital stay had gotten rid of it. She also said that I could go home once my oncologist had seen me. Needless to say I was delighted with the news and I got up and rang my parents to give them the good news.

When my oncologist came to see me later on she told me she was continuing with the blood thinning injections at a reduced dose to stop me getting any more clots during treatment.

Later that evening my parents came to collect me and they brought me home. Boy was I glad to get home.
