I got a letter the Monday 24th April just four days after my biopsies giving me an appointment at the Breast Clinic for Thursday 27th April. I was surprised to get a letter so quickly but I shouldn't have been, the last time I was diagnosed with breast cancer I found out a week after my biopsy. I thought that maybe I was going to get good news as the letter didn't say to bring anyone with me.
I had a bit of a wait when I got to the clinic. When I got called by my Surgeon I saw that he had my Breast Care Nurse with him so I suspected that I wasn't going to get good news. He examined me when I went in to his office and once I was dressed again he gave me the bad news. My breast care nurse was in the room the whole time so at least I wasn't completely alone when I got the news.
I asked him if it was triple negative again or if it was a different breast cancer, he answered that it was er+ and pr+ and that he was still waiting on the her2 result. He told me that the plan was for an operation and radiotherapy, but he doesn't know if I need chemo again.
Once I finished with my surgeon, my breast care nurses took me into her office and gave me a bit more information. She said that my operation was penciled in for the 17th May.
Once I had finished with my breast care nurse I went down to reception and called my mother to collect me from the hospital. I then started the process of letting family and friends the bad news.
