An Update on how I've been doing since I last wrote

1 minute read time.

I had my operation in March 2021 to remove the remainder of the lump which had gone from being 16 mm to 3 mm.  I recovered fairly quickly from the operation.  When I went back for my results I was told I had an almost complete response to chemo, there was no cancer left in the lump in my breast but there was still some cancer left in the lymph nodes that my surgeon took.  I had to go for another CT and Bone Scan to make sure there was no spread, there wasn't.  My oncologist decided to put me on Capecitabine for six months, two weeks on and one week off.  This was in tablet form.  Like with my previous chemos I didn't have any side effects.  I started taking the tablets in April 2021 and finished them in October 2021.

For the next year I had four visits to the Breast Clinic and each time there was nothing to be found.

I had my first yearly mammogram in March 2022 and there was no evidence of disease which I was delighted about.

My visits to the Breast Clinic then changed to twice yearly.  When I had the first for those twice yearly visits again everything was alright, so my surgeon told me that after my next visit he was going to change it to yearly.  My mammogram for 2023 was booked at that visit.

I was happy to be 18 months cancer free.
