The introduction of Mr Peahead

Less than one minute read time.

Mr Peahead was identified in January 2025 following a colonoscopy after experiencing rectal bleeding and subsequently having a positive FIT test. This intruder is aptly named as when they were taking a biopsy of the tumour there was a solitary pea left over from bowel prep sat on top of it! So that explains that name. Moving forward 4 months I have sailed through chemo radiation and started FOLFOX on the 29th April. I’ve decided to do this blog now as I can’t believe how every day is different. The first  night the most awful insomnia which then settled then day 6 my emotions were running so high I literally woke up and burst into tears and spent the whole day feeling like I had spent the night partying. No nausea just extreme fatigue. Day 7 today and I’m a different person as if yesterday didn’t even happen. So here begins my journey with FOLFOX and Mr Peahead. Hold on tight think we are in for a rollercoaster journey x

  • Hey, yesterday we learnt that my partner has a aggressive Bowl Cancer following a colonoscopy, a massive shock.  We knew a few weeks ago something was there.  The instant shock and fear hit us like a brick!  Now the journey begins!  A lot to take in.  Day One with TT as we have named it and no idea what to do!  Can I focus at work?  I slept ok but woke so early and TT was the first thing I thought about

  • Hi  I’m by so sorry to hear of your partners diagnosis. It’s a lot to take in and process and some days you will be positive and others it will be overwhelming. It’s important to talk through how your feelings though. My husband bottled his emotions up trying to brave for me but they eventually bubbled over like a volcano. So he has reached out to others for support. He has continued working as did I for as long as I could through treatment just for a bit of normality and distraction however it’s early days and you have a lot of information and emotions to process. Wishing you both the good luck in your journey and please utilise this group they are fantastic with a lot of good advice
