Progress Update and the Power of Music

1 minute read time.

I am mid way through chemo cycle three, Drs were very pleased with my blood counts and they couldn't feel a swollen lymph node under my left armpit anymore. I am just awaiting the PET scan results to confirm this is the case, this will also confirm whether I need one more cycle or three more after this one. Got everything crossed here.

One of the things that has helped me out A LOT here is music. Music means a lot to me. I love how one song can bring back so many memories, how a band can get you through a hard time and the togetherness it brings in general. . Before I got diagnosed, I was here, there and everywhere going to gigs up and down the country; sometimes travelling abroad for all sorts. I am eagerly awaiting the day I can get off to live shows again, in the meantime; I have been finding new music and albums to listen to on a daily basis. I will tell you about a particular song that helps me out; especially before the consultant appointments.

It's from The Wiz, a film my partner introduced me to before I started my treatment. It stars Diana Ross and Michael Jackson in the lead roles; I recommend the film, the best way I can describe it is if Motown did a version of The Wizard Of Oz. There's a song sung by The Wicked Witch Of The West (Mabel King) which I took to instantly; the bouncy rhythm and King's powerful voice as she belts out 'Don't Nobody Bring Me No Bad News'. This is the energy I channel every time I go to an important and it helps me feel powerful. I have provided the YouTube link below if you fancied a listen.
