The Journey begins.

Less than one minute read time.

Hi. i have never written a blog before or even read one. This last month I had a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer, which came completely out the blue, hitting me like an express train.  I started Chemo this week and currently waiting for any effects to fall on me. It would be so helpful to hear how other people have met this challenge.

  • Hi Rosie Pie. It depends on what chemo you are on as to what side effects you may or may not get. I had two different chemos and had every side effect with both of them. Some people sail through with nothing or a few. I think if you are positive and stay positive it really helps. I always think whatever I’m going through someone else has it much worse. I just waited between each chemo session to get a little energy and tried to keep on going as normal and get things done. Everything took longer to do but I managed it and felt proud I’d done everyday tasks when I could. I’ve had my lumpectomy now and just waiting on radiotherapy to start this week. Just keep smiling and cheerful and you will get through it x

  • Hello, chemo is so variable, so many different sorts and people react so differently. My personal experience is that side effects get worse as the cycles progress. Keep in touch with your nurses and keep a diary or log of symptoms to refer back to.   And blog or journal your experience if you find that this helps, I've been spewing nonsense about my cancer for a year now and I find it really helps just to write things down.
