Such a monumental balls up!!

Less than one minute read time.

I do not know where to start with this one, my head is still in a spin. The good news is we took mum home yesterday.

I had a phone call from the hospital yesterday lunch time saying that they were sorry but there had been a mistake on mums histopathology report. It was recorded that mum had small cell lung cancer and that the other tumour was non small cell.

Mums lung cancer is non small cell which meant that the one in the common bile duct is metastases not a 2nd primary. My family and I were put through 24 hours of hell and all for the omission of three little letters!

I am relieved yet so angry. Yes this is still not good news but I believe that the treatment options will be more straight forward now that  we are only dealing with one type of cancer.

We were also told that it is the small bowel that is involved and that it is the bowel that has invaded the common bile duct, this was not mentioned to us previously.

I did sleep much better last night and I am ready now to face a new day.

Unbelievable! I think some straight talking needs to be done with the people involved. This is unacceptable.

Your heads must be in a spin right now, but, I hope now that the proper diagnosis has  been made treatment gets sorted out and started as soon as possible.

I hope all goes well for your mum.

    Best wishes, Christine xx
