Have just got back from another 12 hour shift at the hospital. Went to see Mum this morning then popped home at lunch time to see the family with the intention of going back to the hospital later on. Mum phoned me at about 1530 to ask if I could go back as the surgeon who performed the ERCP wanted to come and have a chat with us.
I did not think he could tell us anything more devastating than we had been told yesterday when we found out that Mum had cancer in her common bile duct. We had accepted that the cancer had spread but hoped that the Tarceva that Mum had been taking for her lung cancer could be restarted now that we knew that the jaundice was not as a result of a reaction to the medication.
It turns out that the cancer in Mums common bile duct is a second primary and has not spread from her lungs.
I will write more tomorrow as my eyes are now failing me I am so exhausted.
Night all xxx
