In hospital

Mum went through A & E last night and has been admitted to hospital. They have decided to stop the Tarceva for a few days at least as her liver is not coping with it. Mum has looked slightly jaundiced for a while now but it has got significantly worse since starting her new meds.

Mum has had a rash which has made her itch to the point of crying and scratching herself sore since she had her chemo. The medics seem to think that everything that is happening is a result of the damage that the chemo has done to her body.

I don't know yet what the plan will be until I speak with the team at the hospital. I am scared as I am sure mum is. I am not ready for this, not ready to see my mum suffer, not ready to loose her, I will never be ready to say goodbye.

So sorry your Mum has had a problem with the Tarceva. My step dad took it for a while, and unfortunately he had a really bad skin reaction as well, and had to stop taking it.

Hopefully the hospital will make your Mum feel more comfortable - I hope you get some answers today. Thinking of you and your family. I've sent a friend request so feel free to contact me. I'm sure others on the site will have other advice and support for you at this worrying time. Val X

    Hi Ginge,

Once the med team find out exactly what is causing

your Mum all this skin irratation, they will come up with an answer to your Mums problem. If it is the Chemo they will change it and treat the skin as best they can. Please dont get yourself in a state wait until all the tests are done, and see what they say.

Take care and be Safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xxx

    Hi both

Thank you for your words of comfort, support and encouragement. Mum has had a CT scan of her liver and the good news is that there is no tumour there. They think that she has a stone. Chances are it has been there a while and not caused any problems but with the extra work her liver is having to do it is struggling. Still off Tarceva and waiting to be reviewed hopefully tomorrow by oncologist. Awaiting update as to whether they will do ERCP to remove stone.

I will try to keep my blog up  to date and let you know how things are going.

Val ~ I could not see your friend request so I have sent you one.
