my dad is very ill today. i only saw him on wednesday and he wasnt too bad and looked ok. i was shocked at how bad he looked today, i was so upset to see him like that and finding it so hard now to hold it together and not go to pieces. im trying to stay strong for my dad and also my mum n my brother. we had the doctor come out to him today and he said he has thrush in his mouth. he cant eat and seems dehydrated. im hoping they keep him in hospital when he goes for his radio therapy tomorrow.
I had a different cancer so I can't offer any information on your dad's treatment but do offer my sympathy. Do you have a Macmillan nurse you can talk to? If not, perhaps you could ask your GP what help is available for the WHOLE family. You could also ask questions on this site by clicking on the 'Ask a nurse' (written in blue) at the top right of this page. One thing that does occur to me is that if your father is dehydrated then perhaps he can be given a drip.

My mum had bowel cancer (she has not long been given the all clear) and during her chemo she ate pineapple ( fresh or tinned ) it keeps the mouth moist she suffered oral thrush too and the pineapple helped her also crushed ice.
You could maybe mention this to your mum I hope this is a little help to you.
