Mesothelioma not possible to diagnose.....

Less than one minute read time.

Hi.  Can anyone help?  My dad has suspected mesothelioma but all test results have come back inconclusive.  My mum feels as though she is being left in 'limbo' and no help is being offered to them.  He is really very poorly, has increasingly limited mobility and has had a permanent drain fitted as the fluid on his lungs was constantly building up.  Has anyone else had this experience where a diagnosis does not seem possible?  He's not well enough for an open biopsy and so we're not sure where to go from here.  The consultant doesn't want to see him now for 2 months.

    Hiya

My dad also has Mesothelioma, his diagnosos is definite. He is 80 and was unwell this time last year and from the doctors it was x rays and consultants because his breathing was becoming worse,so was the back pain. Dad was admitted to hospital as a day case to have fluid drained from his back where they inserted a needle and extracted 3 pots of fluid to be tested and we wre told a week later that it was Meso.We had never heard of it,they may have well have spoken in a foreign language. The only traetment we were offered for dad was the talc procedure and a chest drain which we grabbed with both hands because there was nothing else. That was near on a year ago,the drain eventually became dry around july and the district nurses came weekly to change the dressing and then the begining of this year the drain was removed (only the outside part as the bit in the lung is stuck) I know you wanted to know if a meso test can come back inconclusive and i dont know, all i know is the fluid they took from my dad showed up with no uncertanty at all. If you can get a positive diagnosis then there is so much financial help and composation available.I know its no substitute for your dads health but it will help you all during this horrible time .I hope this has helped in some small way,or if there is anything i can help you with,no matter what it is ,then please ask and i will do my best. My best wishes to you all,i know what you are going through,
