Rhab Part two..

1 minute read time.

Just got back from my second operation from the Royal Marsden, Sutton. Had a wide local excision. Stayed for 4 nights as drain wasnt really filling properly. Staff were fab as usual. very kind, caring and patient. Was a very busy week for them. I'm sure it's like that every week! The rest there did me the world of good. I hadn't been sleeping properly since my last op 4 weeks ago. At home I couldn't really focus on anything. I'd find myself wandering from one room to another. Was awful. But in my ward all i could do was concentrate on getting better. The cocktail of painkillers and sleeping pills made sure I got a good 7 hours undisturbed sleep at night and I feel much better for it. Had the drain removed on day 3 and that made movement better too. I'm off to see the prof on thursday 3 March for a review and hopefully to be told that I don't need radiotherapy. Wound is a bit sore now and then and aches if I sit around too much. i also have a huge blister under the dressing, which hurts more than the stitches...have been told to let it go down by itself but I'm tempted to pop it!! Art Therapy upstairs in the Richard Wells Rehab Centre on day 4 was fun. I chose to build things out of plasticine and clay. But more importantly I got to chat to other patients. Was worn out after an hour and slept for most of the afternoon, but I think I'll go back every other thursday (even tho it's an hour+ away) as I found it very therapeutic. In and outpatients can attend on a 'just turn up' basis...Good to be back home now tho.
