Diary of my Taxol - Therapy (side effects)

1 minute read time.
Hi, Because there appeared some small round spots in the lung I started at 17th December 2008 a weekly chemotherapy with Taxol. Here I'll report in short comments the way through (side effects, etc.). - 17th December, the first curse (in hospital): The first time they kept me in hospital till the next morning for watching. At home the rest of the day and the following night I was hyper active with the result that I slept at 19th till 10pm whithout breaks. It'll be continued - - 21th December: OK, yesterday evening it started to be not so comfortable. Headache, little stings and a lot of ants or mitches all over the whole body, bad colics during the whole night - so my body told me to stay in bed the whole day (I know it's not the best!). Now, in the evening the effects are reduced to headache and tiredness. Will see tomorrow ... - 22th December: I think it's over for the moment. The tiredness and a light headache are still there - but I was normal active this day. - 24th & 25th Dezember: We had a really beautiful, relaxed time and I felt fine whitout any problems! We wished all of you the same. Today, the 26th in the morning I'll take the 2. infusion (second curse). ---

Oh Markus - that sounds familiar!  I was on a 3 hourly infusion of Taxol every 3 weeks - and I was bouncing off the walls for 2 days after each infusion with all the steroids that were pumped into me!  It was actually quite a good feeling, before the other side effects kicked in.  My oncologist also recommended a small glass of wine occasionally, which he said would help with the nausea (that works too!).  Hang on in there - after my scan results, I can't recommend Taxol highly enough!!!  Big hugs, Kate xxxx

We wish you peaceful holidays, too! After the bad night it's going up again. I'm ready to fight - it's easy to fight, when friends are thinking of you!
