My first chemo.

Less than one minute read time.

Well thats the first chemo out the way, have to say was a totally woos when I went into the room and seen these, what looked like dental chairs, broke down, thankfully had a wonderful person with me who was great.  A full six hours later escaped!!  Was on adrenellin for the rest of the night, had pictured projectile vomiting immediately.  Didnt feel too bad the next day but just feel so tired and extreme joint and muscle pain, has anyone else had this and how long does it last!!  Just taking one day at a time and trying to stay positive.  I dont want to be a moaner but it just seems so daunting to have another 5 to go.  I just feel so tired and totally out of it, should stop moaning know a lot of people are worse off.

    Hi,

Yes it is daunting to think of all the chemo ahead, but believe me the time does soon pass! I found it a good idea to jot down the days where i was feeling tired, or had other side effects in the first cycle, that way I was ready for them the next time. I also was a wuss the first time I had chemo, I was needle phobic, well still am but have had so many stuck in me I can just about grin and bear it!

Hope all goes well for you,

    take care

    Hi

you're not a wuss! its very daunting. As Kath says you will be surprised how quickly time passes i have already had three of seven and i can't believe it.

Am also needle phobic so not good in this situation haha but we soldier on!

My mantra is ' if its a good day, get something done, if its not, then don't!' its worked for me so far.

Hopefully you'll not suffer too badly, all best wishes with your treatment.

    Hi there,

Now that the first chemo is over, you will have days when you will feel tired and achey, but they will pass. It is a good idea to record how you feel and any side effects as Kath said, because it will really heip you cope with the rest of your treatment. Remember, the chemo is now fighting the cancer and that is a very good thing. Don't apologise for moaning, we all do it, but you are trying to be positive and that is brilliant.

Take care and feel better soon,

                                 Love lizzie xx

Thank you so much all for replying, is makes a difference to know someone understands what you are going through.  Have started the diary to keep a note of side effects, nurse did say you would get similar with each cycle of chemo.  Just as you say trying when I can do things when I can and rest when I can.  Take care everyonex

    Hi Marionkirsty,

I too felt like you when I had my first chemo, seemed like one massive hill to climb!!! However I have just had my 5th out of 6 chemo today and can honestly say that time has flown by.  I have pain and feeling tired for the first three or four days of the first week then two weeks of feeling fine, just shattered by the end of the day.  Once you know your symptoms you will find it easier to manage, I promise, also people are amazing on this site and there will always be someone to lift you if you feeling down, or answer a question etc.  Hope you continue to feel better with each passing day,

    Gentle hugs Alex x
