    Hi Marion,

So sorry to hear that you are suffering the dreaded leg pain caused by the Paclitaxol. I had this for over a year and I am afraid that no painkillers worked for me! The only thing that made a difference was the days I took the steroid Dexamethazone and the pain vanished. I was able to sleep, however, because the pain was only bad when I moved about and my walking was very slow. I hope someone may be able to suggest something to help, but , on a positive note, once the chemo is over the pain gradually subsides.

I,m sorry I can't be more helpful but I do sympathise and send you very best wishes.

         Take care,

              Love lizzie xx

  • Hi Marion,

I had the pain too for about 5 to 7 days following chemo and like yourself found that tramadol didn't work.  As I couldn't sleep I spoke with my doctor who suggested I use sleeping tablets I had been prescibed previously. I checked with the hospital pharmasyst that the sleeping tablets were safe with the chemo which they were. I was able to sleep at night which meant I was able to deal with the pain during the day.  Speak with your Dr to see if this is a route you can go down.

    Tamsin.

Have you tried Diclofenac, that worked for me with aches and pains. For sleeping Lorazepam works wonderfully but make sure you stock up in between chemo sessions as my doc doesnt like giving them to me so i always get chemo suite at hospital to give me some after every session.

    good luck
