Hair loss.

Less than one minute read time.

Can I ask anyone if they have any idea when hair starts to come back after chemo has finished.  I have been on taxol and caprpolatan (think thats how you spell it).  Just finished about three weeks ago, does it take 3 months 6 months, nobody has said.  Marion.

    Hi Marion,

I have lost my hair for the third time recently but each of the previous times it grew back pretty quickly and was to my shoulders within 6 months. It was quite thick and had a definite curl although this disappeared after the first cut. My chemo nurse advised me to shave my head three weeks after finishing chemo as it would grow back thicker. The first time I followed her advice and it was lovely and thick. The second time I did'nt feel like shaving it but it wasn't as thick, especially at the front. I know what I'm going to do this time! The choice is yours.

               Very best of luck,

                     Love lizzie xx

Last time it took 3-4 months to get what you might call real hair, like a number 3 haircut, but once it started it grew fast.... I finished this lot on 10th of august and I have a little bit of "bum fluff" now, everyone is dIfferent but it does grow back, and that's what counts,

    Good luck

Hi Marionkirsty, I had different chemo drugs to you, so don't know if that makes a difference, but my hair came back in really quickly. In fact, it started growing in by the time I had started the next course of chemo. I remember a lady in the waiting room asking me how long it took to grow back.

My hair came in with grey streaks, perhaps it had been grey before, I don't know, because I dye my hair blonde, but I dyed it pretty quickly. I'm not a grey or mousey brown kind of person lol. All the advice is not to dye it too soon, because, it's like dyeing a newborn's hair apparently, but, it just wasn't for me lol.

I wish you all the best for the future, Christine xx
