Rant

Less than one minute read time.
I feel like having a rant! It annoys me no end that you're not allowed to forget your status - or in this case, my husband's status. How helpful is it when, at the weekly doctor's appointment before chemotherapy, the nice woman doctor inquires what my husband has been doing, then says, 'well, you have to make good use of the time we're gaining for you'. They are gaining? I keep getting the feeling they want to have you safely in your place, nicely afraid. Practically every week there's something similar - big print saying 'palliative treatment' on his papers, nice hints like 'you'll find it difficult to get travel insurance'. Oh, well. End of rant. Makes me want to sharpen my teeth.

Good for you - I really sympathise and would lend you my file if I weren't sharpening my own teeth with it.  I know exactly what you mean . . .   someone told me the other day that oncologists refer to remission from ovarian cancer as "treatment holiday".  But I didn't have any problem with getting insurance for my trip to Egypt!14

Hi Pat I do know what you mean, a while ago I complained  about the insensitivity of one of the surgeons and the doc said "you should be grateful he saved your life."

Maybe thats so but  does our own courage and that of family and fiends not matter.

Glad to hear your coming over pat wish I were nearer so we could meet  for a coffee.

I will be down in London end of May , so if your over around then maybe we can meet up with some others too.

    Take care

Yes, it's the small things which go a long way with us folk who frequently feel vulnerable to this whole horrible process.    No matter how clinically advanced their skills might be, few seem able or willing to show empathy for our respective predicaments.

Such lack of sensitivity seems to be inversely related to the seniority of the individual surgeon - if you know what I mean.

Well ... good to see familiar names here!    I don't seem to catch many of you any more!

    Andrew - still here!
