Markus

1 minute read time.
After a horrible day struggling with a bladder infection myself, I went to see Markus last night. He was on the balcony at the hospital, smoking. He went back to bed when I arrived, taking his pump with him. This great pump (and other infusions) has given him freedom from pain, so he is feeling much better. However, it makes him very drowsy, so he can't keep his eyes open long - I think he is sleeping most of the day. He had been feeling very nauseous, but they have managed to control that, too. His temperature is also down, and he is getting infusions of antibiotics. The diagnosis, as far as I know, is pneumonia. His pain probably comes from the something in his neck and shoulder area which is apparently infiltrating the tissue there. Not directly a tumour, they said, they can't really tell us what it is. I don't think they've given him any nutrition of any kind yet - it's now a week since he ate solid food or had more than a cup of soup. But he's comfortable, that's the main thing. I'll go in this afternoon with his daughter for a short while (so he's not too tired) and then go again in the evening. I've got sick leave again this week - it must have been a really virulent bug that got first me, then Markus, about 10 days ago. And I even got the flu vaccine last autumn so that this wouldn't happen. The best laid plans of mice and men ....

Best wishes to you both and hope things improve a little for you. Dont be too hard on the guy for smoking, as an ex smoker [and lung cancer victim] I understand the bit of comfort it brings him. I stopped smoking out of respect for the team who worked so hard to save my life, I made them a promise that I would stop and I stuck to it. As they told me after the op "fight, fight, and then fight some more. [My physio had a sadistic streak]

Love and best wishes,   Bill xxx

Hope you are both on it, everyone is right Pat...YOU need to rest too, so while Markus is in very safe hands take that opportunity.

Easy to tell someone to rest but soooo much harder to do.   I know.    Good luck to you both Pat.  Hope you both are on the way to some sort of recovery.  Glad Marcus is managing to get about a little with less pain.  Pneumonia is a nasty thing at the best of times.   Bill,  my daughter is training to be a physio and she already has that sadistic streak (no idea where she gets it from lol).

Anyway Pat love and angel hugs to you and Marcus x x x

Ah, Pat. I wish I could be there to help you in some way. You must be completely worn out with being ill yourself and worrying about Marcus. You will both be in my thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery. As for Marcus and his smoking...well, we need say no more....it wouldn't be a good day if they weren't doing something that we could Nag them for.  Hopefully you'll have him home soon where you can give him a proper nag in the privacy of your own home....Love ya....Tippy
