30th April 2010
Not so bad this time so far as the time spent in the hospital. This time we were only three and a half hours on Ward 10 but John has ended up with a very painful arm where the IV went in. Were told it's a common side effect but he can hardly touch it.
Had a bit of a do with trying to see a doctor to discuss some of his meds. We were made to feel like we were creating a bit of a fuss by the nurse and John said not to bother but I was determined to ask the doctor the questions we had written down the night before.
We did see one eventually and he was prescribed the meds he needed for his poor spotty nose (one of the side effects of the trial drug), i.e. hydrocortisone cream and antibiotic tablets.
Then there was a mix up with the prescription when I took it to the pharmacy, again! We thought we would have to wait till Tuesday to collect it because of the Bank Holiday but it was cleared up at last and they were issued to us.
John was so relieved to be home and is sleeping off the effects and nursing his arm carefully so he doesn't bump it. Bit worried about Gemma jumping up to love him but she seems to understand and is curled up at my feet as I write this.
Will have to update the pill chart later but we seem to be betting the hang of things at last.
