Mac server out for day and always slow and unreliable

Less than one minute read time.

The Macmillan server has never been really good, but recently it has been getting appallingly bad. This culminated in the site being down for most of today.

The chat is often slow, doesn't always accept and display your message, it is booting people off more and more and quite frankly not fit for purpose.

This chat room is a brilliant service you provide and is many peoples  liveline and only source of friends who understand about cancer. People have said they have been stressed not being able to get on for support

Even the main site is very slow and sluggish not just today - it takes seconds to display pages that on other sites are almost instant.

I think a major overhaul or update is needed. New much faster server hardware and software, propelly installed chat software, etc etc

Sorry to be rather blunt - but you have a much needed facility that just isn't working as it should.

 best wishes

 Mal

Come on Macmillan, step up to the mark!

Yes, agreed, unfortunately we have many problems of booting, etc, on chat.  And today/tonight it appeared to be down the whole time.  It is obviously getting a lot more popular and maybe it needs to be looked at so that it is able to cope with the amount of people on here at one time.  I agree, something needs changing, but also think this is an amazing site and I for one, could not be without it.  Thanks.

There is a lot of people on this site and for the sake of a few seconds, would be quite willing to put up with the inconvience of a delay of a few seconds.

It could be a lot worse if we didnt have any site at all. We will get to have our say eventually, all you need is patience.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xxx

I tried to Login earlier today and spent hours trying to work out what was wrong with my Laptop - I assumed it must be a fault of mine.

I feel relieved to know that it was Macmillan at fault!!

It is a relief to have you back -  You really are a lifeline

to all of us who have suffered from

    cancer-related illnesses.

I have recently had an operation to have a kidney and part of my bladder removed because of Cancer.

My mind won't allow me to think too much about it -

ignoring it, as if it never happened!  I log in and out every so often to satisfy my 'head' that i should be

    OK.

I hope what i have written makes sense...
