Ovarian cancer for almost 3 years

Less than one minute read time.
Hi y'all, this is the first time I have done a Blog. I had been in the hosp. and decided not to continue chemo. Had 2 treatments to go. Saw onc. Dr. yesterday. He is going to start me on tamoxofin. I am so happy!! I now feel like I am still fighting this ca. Quitting chemo, although it was not working, I felt like I was giving up. I have been told i have 6 mo. to year, and Dr. said this will not cure, but might slow it down spreading. I am surprised at the change in my mood and outlook just change in treatment. No more needles for 3 more months. Just pills twice a day. I feel like I have been freed. My almost 3 years of chemo has taken so much out of me that now I am more at peace with my life. Just wanted to share my progress and hope it might encourage someone else. Life is beautiful, God is in charge, and we never know what will happen next!!!!

Chemo is only any use if it is some use.  You need to get over it now, and it could be up to 8 weeks before you really feel better.  I felt worse for a while.  No side effects, but deathly tired.  Then I found myself one morning on the rail embankment, (no rails) with no memory of having had any difficulty climbing up there.  So yes, it does get better.

Just relax, take the Tamoxifen and get the family to peel grapes for you as it were.

Go on one of those 'looking good feeling better' sessions. It's free, why not?

I have to say I admire you girl. I have been fighting ovarian cancer for 11 months and everything that could go wrong has for me and the first 4 chemos didn't work and the cancer spread like wild fire. Tomorrow I will be having the results from THE scan and finding out if the last six new chemos have worked or not. I am at the point now where I would like some peace in my life.

Enjoy your life girl and all power to you..............Love Carol x

It's not as if you refused the chemo before giving it a go and if it wasn't beneficial then why put yourself through it?  I think you feel better because you finally took control of your body and life and no longer at the mercy of others making the decisions. Take it easy, let those around you take care of you and you just enjoy the 'freedom'! Sending you a big hug

    Take care
