The moment that everyone dreads and looks forward to... DIAGNOSIS DAY!

1 minute read time.

This the second time that I have been diagnosed with Hodgekins Lymphoma. The first time I was 15 and living in the Middle East, and now I am 19 and living in Leeds. There have been pros and cons to being diagnosed in two different countries. For example, my tests were quicker and efficient in Oman, and I had my bloods, CT scan, X-ray and biopsy done all in one day! Over here it was a long drawn out process, taking 6 weeks. But the NHS do the best that they can so I will never ever complain!

Today I went to see Dr. Ethall at the Royal Marsden hospital in Sutton. He was my doctor in England the last time that I had treatment. He basically said everything that I expected... I have Hodgekins Lymphoma in my neck, both sides of my chest and in my spleen.

He wanted to put my on IGEV chemotherapy. That would mean steroids and last time I was put on steroids I got very depressed, and pretty much couldn't even get out of bed in the morning. So he's thinking of looking into another form of chemo, possibly IVE. With IGEV I wouldn't lose my hair, but with IVE I will. But really, losing my hair isn't an issue to me. I have worn head scarves before and I find it quite fun messing about with different styles.

In conclusion, I will be having three months of chemotherapy, possibly followed by a stem cell transplant. But I will be fine!
