Zapping Day

1 minute read time.

Another visit to the hospital this time to zap the two wounds after the Talc Op in case the wounds were being attacked by the seeding Tumours.

I was sitting in the waiting room for some time and listening to other patients talking about their cancers–you are not alone in the battle except these other patients all had a hope of being cured and Im sitting there knowing that mine is  not–a weird feeling.

The nurse finally called my name so in I went to the Radiation room, laid on a couch where they remeasured the scar from the keyhole surgery and laid cold metal frames on my skin.

Off they went out of the room and then I could hear a clicking noise which went on for 11mins and then stopped.

This meant the half way time was reached and the nurses popped in to see if I was ok and they adjusted the cold metal and out they went again and the clicking noise started.

11mins later it stopped and in the 3 nurses came.

The same was then carried out again on the drain wound but this time I jumped from a light sleep as they came in the door and I realised I had dropped off–boredom had set in.

44 mins of radiation had taken place.

That was it I was free to go.

Wow thats a long time to be having RT.....I think I would have fallen asleep too!

I wish I had just once been able to see what the machine looks like working but I had a face mask on that meant my eyes were shut throughout the treatment.  It's weird hearing it whirl and click and know its moving around you but never see it happen.

I hope the RT does its job for you.

  • It didnt move around Debs not for me as it just concentrated on the scars.

Im now ready for my Chemo on Wednesday.

    All day affair.

2x2hrs of Chemo drugs and 2x1hr of fluids.

this will be every 21 days for 6 times.

No cure just might give me a few more months.

I want to see my Golden Wedding in June 2010 you have to have goals in front of you.

    Love Mavis xx
