We set off on Thursday for The Bell Campsite at Devizes in Wiltshire to spend one night to break the journey, It was a nice site but the pub wasn't a pub anymore so we spent a quiet night and in the morning went for a walk then got ready to set off on the journey again--well-- when we put the sat/nav on and the post code of The Woodbridge Inn we were just around the corner as the crow flies. 4 miles by road.
So we arrived early to the Beer Festival.
We have had a great weekend with the Blues Brothers on the Friday evening and they were real gents as they greeted me in and asked me who I was and had a chat.
Then in the middle of their act they sang off key so Ray took his hearing aids out and held them up well!! they couldn't sing for laughing.
We sampled loads of real ales and ciders and had a merry time which carried on until the wee small hours in the morning until I went to bed as I was getting cold in the morning dew.
Saturday we all sat out in the sun and just relaxed until My family arrived and we had a lovely meal in the pub and then came back for coffee until they had to leave at 4pm.
At 8 we had a phone call to say they were still stuck on the M4 as there had been an accident --how frustrating is that.
The evenings entertainment couldn't start as the Football was on until 9pm so we hung around drinking beer again, then the band struck up and it was heavy metal and so loud that we went back to Chris and Clare's M/home and sat there for the rest of the evening having fun and also I had taken my wish Chinese Lantern and everyone helped me light it and set it off on its journey up up and away, they are really awesome.
Sunday the news of Doreen's Daughter going into Labour and then having a little boy lifted the excitement for the day.
We went to have a nice Sunday lunch with our friends Norman and Sandra and when we came out a comedian saxophonist was playing in the Marque and he was good.
Sampling some more beer --of coarse we again had a great afternoon.
I went back to the M/home but could hear music and Chris's daughter and niece had party dancing music on so I joined them and had a good time and then they invited Ray and myself to a barbie so we joined in and I was offered Pim's but it wasn't stirred and i had Pim's and brandy with a hint of lemonade.
It started raining and Chris had bought a Gazebo for the job of keeping us dry but when he put it up the rain came through much to his disgust. he!he!.
We sat under his awning and passed the evening away with a lot of talking and laughing.
I finally went to bed tired and exhausted.
We then got up Monday and said all the goodbyes and promises to meet soon.
Something that happened over the weekend was when we arrived and as we are on Salisbury Plain the army are very mush present so much so that 2 Helicopters flew at tree tops.
Now that is a passion of mine as I love the Deer Hunter film and when it flashes to the helicopters in Saigon I loved the scene.
Then on Monday while saying goodbye to Frank blow me down I could here the noise and then One appeared again at treetops.
If you arranged that Chris ---thanks so much ha!ha!
