My Diary been buying clothes for Dinner dance

1 minute read time.

I have found another very informative site for us Meso sufferers

http://www.cancernews.com/data/Article/242.asp

The part that gives me a lot of hope and makes me realise that I have to sit back and let this work is this :-

In fact, VATS has been proposed to increase survival after resection of stage I non-small cell lung cancers with a 5-year survival of 97% versus 78.5%. This is felt to be secondary to the decreased amount of inflammation and growth factors, which would encourage the growth of metastases, when VATS is compared to an open procedure. (reference 5) Post-operative complications and length of stay are also reduced.

CONCLUSIONS

Over the past decade, the use of VATS has become widespread and has allowed surgeons to perform complex procedures that previously required a thoracotomy, or open chest procedure. Although the use of VATS in the management of lung cancer continues to evolve, the procedure is now being used from diagnosis and staging to treatment and palliation with comparable results as well as decreased pain and complications when performed by experienced thoracic surgeons.

I have been searching for info on Mistletoe but it seems all the trials are closed and the Data is being put together

Well today has been busy again as we took the dog out early but it was raining on and off.

Came home to Lunch (Cheese on toast and pickle) and then we dashed off to the Supermarket and bought Ray a new white shirt and black tie and the trousers and a topthat I liked for myself all for the MCC Dinner dance this weekend. I hope I will be full of energy and back to my old self and be able to have a dance.

We came home and unpacked all the shopping, and guess what I was shattered and slept again for 1 hour.

One minute Ray is sitting having a cup of tea with me and then I wake up and it is just the dog and I.

I made dinner Ray had a curry and jacket potato and I had a sweet and sour sauce over a plate of vegetables.

So we are now on the Computer searching for lots of info about Meso and lung cancer always a never ending list of info.

    Hi Locovan

I know where you are coming from with all this research - I have done my share.  My husband has been on Mistletoe for a year now.  Although the 'clinical trials' may be closed, there are some NHS trusts that will fund this.  We are quite sure that Mistletoe has been helping - particularly when my husband was going through chemo.  Beyond that we don't know - these things not being measurable.

    You take care,

    Love, Grace/Buzzie

    HI Scarlet and Mavis

My husband has been doing the Mistletoe treatment under the supervision of an NHS clinic.   He injects a solution every week and has infusions fairly regularly.  You need to look for complimentary treatment centres - Macmillan might be able to help.  Mistletoe is an 'anthroposophic' treatment.

Hope that is of some help. Grace.

  • I have found Scarlets link to Mistletoe. www.revital.co.uk/product_search.cfm

Is it really that easy to get hold of it and just be able to take it or should I contact my Oncologist first.??

    Love Mavis

    Hi Mavis

It wouldn't do any harm to talk to your oncologist  - some are very well informed about Mistletoe. They may even be able to advise you on where there are centres where you can be treated by professionals, rather than buying over the internet.  Some oncologists (like ours!) are quite sceptical and think we are wasting our time.  Who knows?

Best of luck to you both, Grace.
