6 weeks after the operation

1 minute read time.

I’m a first time blogger on here, and I have just found out about the blogging option on here.

6 weeks ago I had a second operation on my left forearm. My first operation in Nov 2025 removed a suspicious looking mole which was confirmed to be a malignant melanoma in Dec  2025. I was given a few options:

  1. Do nothing
  2. Have further skin/tissue removed from my arm (LWE)
  3. Go for the LWE and lymph node removal

i felt that option 3 was the only option to go for, as doing nothing/not having a full investigation could just be hiding potential issues further down the line. In one appointment prior to the op I was told that out of 100 people, 85 people’s lymph nodes are found to have no cancer. That’s a great stat, but what if I am one of the other 15 people? If I don’t have the op, I’ll never know until it is potentially too late.

So I had the op and a week later I get the news that cancer was indeed found in some of the removed lymph nodes. The next step is a CT and MRI scan to see if the cancer has spread to my body and brain. So I had the scans a few weeks back and i’m pleased to say that both scans showed no sign of cancer. Next up is immunotherapy which is totally precautionary but I remain optimistic that it will keep me safe and hopefully keep me at stage 3B.

I’m now left with a huge scar on my left forearm and a smaller one on my armpit. But I feel it is 100% worth the pain, the discomfort post-surgery and the potential looks I’ll get when people see my arm. But despite all of that, I know that all of this is contributing to keeping me safe. I’m not going to say that if you are in the same position as me that you should do as I do. But I would definitely say that it is worth thinking about if offered.

Stay strong and be proud of those scars!
