happy holidays

3 minute read time.
hi, i`ve just returned from my wonderfull holiday in cape town, i must admit i did get a sneeky peek at some of what you lot were up to via my iphone, lol, i even tried to join in chat once but my phone isnt java enabled and i didn`t know how to make it so, so ok dont get the wrong idea, i loved my hols, just my usual no sleep pattern. we (me my mother in law, sister in law, brother in law, and friend) squeezed in as much as possible, table mountain views are unbeatable, ev, my mother in law, is afraid of heights and is 76, but she done it, everything we done she said if you can do it i can do it, ha ha ha, and she did!!! we saw the seals, actually thousands of them at seal island, the penguins in their hundreds, with their babies, the cheeta`s, even whales. we done a township tour, wow what an eyeopener, seriously, if you havent been, its hard to believe how some people live, the "good" houses are made of tin, corrigated steel actually, some are as small as 8" by 8" and there are familys in them, we visited a shabeen, in northern ireland that means an illegal drinking den, in africa its the same only they brew their own beer, (the irish version is poteen, potato whiskey), i wasnt keen on going to be honest, but it was a little tiny shack, about "10 by "10, and a little lady who brought up 4 kids in it till her hubby died, and she had no way to feed the kids, she offered us to try the "beer" ha ha ha i didn`t think my liver could take it never mind that it came in a rusty old catering size can and was usually shared by everyone!!!!, so i politely declined, lol, would you believe there was a small hotel slap bang in the middle of the township???, also made of tin, look up africa`s smallest hotel and you`ll find it, apparently visitors come from all over the world to stay in it and it has 2 bedrooms with ensuite!! and 2 with shared bathroom, the stairs were wooden planks!!! but it was spotless. robben island, shopping, wine tasting, you name it we done it, my in laws were very obliging, but for me the highlight was sailing, my brother in law has a 30 foot yacht that he`s just restored, its actually sailed around the world, and it was high on my priorities, i`ve been sailing with him before and loved it, again mother in law was terrified but determined to go, i just love it when you pick up speed, it tips up on its side, and your practicaly vertical, the look on ev`s face was one of terror, (soooooo funny) i got to steer for quite a while, my brother in law kindly lied and said i was a natural, lol,i could`ve sailed forever, but only cos the weather was so damn good, (hate the cold),we hit it lucky as its winter time there, it averaged 20degrees and one day got up to 26!!. we had rain the last 2 days but thats what shops are for he he he. if ever anyone gets a chance to go there i can definatly reccomend it, the flights were only £450 with klm, the acommodation is reasonable, the people are lovely, eating out is cheap and there is lots to do, and i can with hand on heart say i personally ,have never seen more beautifull scenery. i`m going to put some photos on my profile. while at the markets i spotted a bandanna stall, now usually i hate them blooming things, nothing screams cancer like they do, BUT, they had these really funky ones with peaks, and elasticated at the back, so i bought 4, in prep for my next lot of chemo. they worked out at approx £4.50, which i thought was good, you can get them on his website. www.guava.co.za tomorrow i have to go and see my lovely oncologist,i feel good so i am hoping he will send me for my scan, then tell me they`re still stable and he doesn`t need to see me for a few months, so i can go ahead and plan my 30th anniversary, so fingers crossed. thanks for endulging me liz xxxx
