Well, I’m now at the end of week two, post chemo-cycle two, and I’m feeling great. I’ve been a little more careful with trying to avoid infection risks this time, but not draconian, I’ve still gone out and about, just kept my distance. My poor wife is still suffering from the after effects of the flu she had and has been laid-low with allergies, I am so grateful for all of the support she gives me – today she’s running a training course - that we would normally do together - with another colleague, despite feeling under the weather, she’s amazing.
The start of week two, post chemo-cycle two, also coincided with the start of the World Cup. Given my situation, I have to be realistic and consider that this might be my last opportunity to see England lift the trophy and enjoy a festival of footy. I have taken advantage and watched quite a few more games than usual, there’s been some great encounters. Then, last night, it was England’s first outing, what a great result – C’MON ENGLAND!
One of the my best mates, Bubzy, came over and we watched the game together; Bubzy has been an awesome friend since the diagnosis, he comes over regularly and we enjoy weekly catch-ups; Shirley and I are god-parents to his three gorgeous children: Maisy, Molly and Sully. Another close friend Liliana visited on Sunday with her husband Dani and so many friends are keeping in regular touch via Whats App, Text or e-mail, as well as the odd phone call; I feel blessed with the amount of love that I feel from everyone.
This evening is a Dad and Daughter movie evening. Cassidy and I always like watching sci-fi, action movies together when she was younger – not Shirley’s cup-of-tea – and we would often order out for a take-away, so that’s the plan for this evening, I’m looking forward to it very much.
So, Desdemona seems to be on holiday at the moment and I’m enjoying the break. She’ll be back with the certainty of the taxman (and death!), but while she’s away, I’m going to take every opportunity to have a great time.
