Hi Linfel, I don't have any experience of Arimidex, although I am on Tamoxifen and find my concentration and memory are terrible.  I have great difficulty remembering words when I am talking and get really upset sometimes.

I wonder if you have had chemo as this can have an effect on the brain cells, causing these symptoms.  Apparently they call it chemo brain.

I don't know if this gets any better and if it is caused by the Tamoxifen as well as chemo.  I'm finishing tamoxifen soon so will wait and see if things improve.

I have a friend who is on Arimidex and she is unbelievable with her memory problems, although we do get a laugh about it - you've got to really haven't you!

Don't know if this helps, just thought I'd tell you about my experience.

    Take care, Christine

    Hi Christine

    Thanks for your reply.

I had similar side effects whilst taking Taxmoxifen after my first encounter with BC 10 years ago but put part of this down to my going through the menopause at the time.

My second encouter with BC was only a few months ago which was luckily caught very early, Stage 1, and resulted in my needing a mastectomy but no radiotherapy or chemotherapy as my Consultant said that I could consider myself practically cured by the surgery.

I have only been taking Arimidex for a couple of months with the usual hot flushes which I learned to manage the first time round but am finding the fuzzy brain and concentration thing a problem when under pressure at work.

I myself am a very positive person and always consider that there people out there a lot worse off than myself but, as I love my job, I am worried that may not be able to carry on working because of this side effect.

    All the best.

    Linfel X

Hi Linfel, I hope you manage to find something to help so that you can carry on working.

I also think the stress of the situation can make things worse, but it's only natural to be stressed, so it's a vicious circle really.

    Here's hoping things will improve.

Take care of yourself, Christine xx
