The avatar is the little picture that appears next to your posts. Its helpful if it looks like you, so people can recognise you when you attend Macmillan events, but some people like to hide behind cartoon characters and the like. Just remember that you cannot use a copyright pictures as an avatar without the consent of the copyright owner.
