cut and paste

Less than one minute read time.
Can any one explain what 'cut and paste' means, or better still how to do it? There are a lot of poems, stories I would like to share with my family who live far away. Yours in anticipation lindaj

Hi if you left click your mouse and drag it over all the text you want to copy and highlight it until it is all blue. Then right click your mouse and go to COPY (if you cut you will remove it alltogether ) then open an new document or email put your curser to where you want it copied to and  right click your mouse again and down to Paste. sorry if that sounds condescending but its the easiest way to explain it

You can cut and paste in most applications, even the internet.

First you need to "highlight" the text you wish to use.  You do that by clicking your mouse (the left button) at the begginning of the wprds, holding the button down and dragging the mouse across the words, which will show up as a different colour.  Your text is now highlighted.  You the hovver the mouse over the text and right mouse click and select "copy" which will duplicate the text or "cut" which will remove it completely.  If you don't have a right mouse button (some old mice dont!) there may be a copy icon on your tool bar (looks like 2 little pages) or it will be in you drop down menu from "Edit".

The go to your destination- which may be a new document, or a web page, or an email - right click mouse and select "paste", or click the paste icon ( a page being stuck to a clipboard) or the edit menu and select "Paste".

I hope this makes sense???  If not have a google at some interactive help pages on Microsofts website - sometimes it makes more sense to watch it being done.  Once you get it, you will use it all the time !!

    Have fun xx

Hello you highlight as shown below but there is a shortcut to copy you hold down the control key and c key together put curser in position (the little black thing that moves with your mouse) and then control and v just takes practice. Have fun Caroline x
