Here, there and everywhere

1 minute read time.

Over the next few days I will be all over the place, physically and mentally. I am undergoing a few familiar experiences in new guises, that I hope to be able to relate positively when over and done with.

One thing that is annoying me is I had my chimney topped earlier this year as I was getting some dripping through the ceiling. It was hard to tell what was causing the problem, but I knew there was a gaping hole from the outside world into where the chimney stack used to be. Sadly that was not the true problem. Why is it the real problems are never the cheaper option?

The roofing company was honest and upfront that I could go for the more expensive option or go cheap first and see if that worked and then pay the expensive after. The difference between £384 and £1,620 is one where to take the gamble that the more expensive is the problem is not to be taken lightly and then find out one only needed loose change to pay for the solution. That is galling.

But me being the new optimist and seeing positive benefits in everything, this will mean I am doubly secure against any issues with the chimney for longer than I am likely to live here. When the next repair job is done I then need somebody to replace the ceiling plaster board that is rotting away with the torrents that have passed through it over the recent past.

Oh well, I've got that pleasure to loo forward to soon!
