Thank god for this site

Less than one minute read time.
Hello All, Thank god for this site, I was about at my wits end & feeling so lonely, my mum was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer 2 weeks ago which can't be cured, but, she has been offered clinical trials which I think she is going to go for which can improve quality of live & prolong (god I hope so) just reading some of the other bloggs has given me such hope & inspiration for my wee maw, my mum is such a fighter, she had cancer of the womb when she was 40 & nailed that, a kidney removed when she was 44 & because of wrong medication heart failure when she was 68, she is such a fighter & now after everything that she has been through & fought with dignity she has another fight on her hands, I just hope that she is strong enough for this up hill struggle, I will be with her every step of the way though.

I too am so glad you found this site as it can be a very scary and lonely place in the 'cancer world'. I'm so sorry to read about your mum, as you say she's had to go through so much already, bless her.  It's good that she's been offered the trials which hopefully will prolong her time but sometimes quality over quantity can play a big part on how someone faces an uncertain future.

You sound a very loving daughter and it must be terrible to stand by and see your mum having to face all of this. Please come on here any time to vent your feelings or ask for info and I'm sure there will always be someone around who can offer an ear or a shoulder for support.

    Take care

    Hello laura,

I have a similar medical history to your Mum and am now 70. I started clinical trials 5 months ago for Tarceva and Sunitinib and all seems to be going well. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you feel I can help at all.

    Lots of Love

    Angela

Hi Laura - and I'm sorry to have to welcome you onto the boards, but so glad that you managed to find all  of us. I remember when I was first diagnosed stumbling onto the cancerbacup site, and being so thankful to find all these lovely people who let me know that I was not alone. That can be very scary at the start - feeling as if you are the only person in the whole universe to be given this earth shattering news. Your Mum has a head start in her fight against this bloody coward - YOU! Going by what your Mum has already dealt with in her life, I'd say she's a "wee scrapper", not easily put off any fight. So, from one Braveheart to another, tell your Mum I said hello and that I wish her a safe journey, which will be made a lot easier with you there fighting in her corner. Hold on tight to all that you love, with lotsa love      kate xxxxxxxxxxxx
