Hi,
My name is Alison and my husband has just started RCHOP for non-hodgkins lymphoma. We are both trying to carry on as normal but everything seems weird and a bit spaced out. He's keeping a diary, as suggested by the chemotherapy nurses but this is new to him too and we sometimes have a laugh when he asks if he should include certain side effects. I'm trying my best to keep him upbeat and the family are wonderful but it would be great to get some feedback from folk who have been through this stage. (Mind you, I'm reading many of the blogs too!..and that has helped a lot).
One interesting bit of information which makes you appreciate our NHS. The lymph nodes were first noticed when my husband had a CT scan while attending ER in Encino in Los Angeles for suspected diverticulitis. (this was cured by 3 days of antibiotics!) We were advised to contact our GP on our return...another CT scan and a node biopsy later, he had his totally unexpected diagnosis. He was so fit and healthy! The bill for 5 hours (plus treatments and scans) in the ER came to 17,998 dollars!! Luckily we had travel insurance but I hate to think what all the treatment he's had since our return home would have cost in the USA......
