cancer reading material

Less than one minute read time.
Hi everyone, thought I would post this and see what happens, I have been, along with many other people i am sure, looking for articles and stuff about cancer- in particular ovarian cancer ( being selfish), and i read in the paper last week that there is a new magazine out aimed at people with cancer called c21. I had not heard about it so have ordered it online, has anyone else heard of it- it apparently launched in December, and i have to say it looked pretty good on the blurb ( they all do though), so am looking forward to receiving it, as I am fed up with the normal scare stories or fear based stuff that seems to be around. I wondered if people could let me know if there is other stuff out there? I am sure that other people would want to know about anything like this, so if you know of anything can you drop me a line.................. thank you in anticipation of wodges of comments and messages!

    Hello Ladygooner

Like you I have ovarian cancer - diagnosed with stage 3c, and I am now in remission.

Over the past few months while I have been at home I have been doing some book reviews for Macmillan and one of the books I recently read was 100 Questions & Answers on Ovarian Cancer.  I thought I had a fairly good knowledge of my disease but I learned a lot of new things and I found the book really helpful.  It's published in the US and I'm not sure whether it's available here yet, but you could probably get it through amazon.com if you were interested. It's published by Jones & Bartlett.  Incidentally I also reviewed 100 Questions & Answers for Women Living with Cancer, and thought that was a waste of time and paper!

I'll be interested to hear what you think of c21 - I hadn't heard of that  but it could be interesting.

    Best wishes

Hi Kate, I got my mag yesterday, it is the first edition, so very difficult to tell how it will evolve. there is some interesting articles, and i'm sure it is difficult to cater for 'our' demographic, but it has some good infomation in it, and highlights specific cancers, as well as giving general info about cancer. they appear to be asking for input from people as to what we would like to see, so have emailed them, and suggested that they ask the community what they would like, all in all good, solid info, but I think they need to lighten it up a bit! if we all ask them for what we want, we might get it!
